Plagwitz

Listening to: The XX

My tiny bespectacled friend...

Saturday was an unbelievable day in Leipzig, weather-wise. High around 65°F, sunny, with a warm breeze. It was incredible. I decided against taking in a museum, which had been my plan, and headed out to Plagwitz for a solo photo-mission. This is what I wore.

Black knitted beret, oversized royal blue sweater, black leggings; H&M (Here in Germany, it's pretty much the only place I can afford to shop.)
Navy blazer; Thrifted
Scarf; Thrifted
Amazing gold leopard necklace; gift from Mama Dirty of Sweet 'n' Dirty
Einkaufstasche (shopping bag): Do You Read Me, a bookstore in Berlin.

Close-up: ridiculous sock/loafer combo

First Post in Deutschland!

Listening to: I Bet That You Would Look Good On the Dance Floor, Arctic Monkeys

Bought these camel colored riding pants at H&M yesterday, for only 9€! Not bad. Bought loads of other stuff as well but mostly just comfy, cozy things for sleeping.

Today's look is kind of half equestrian, half military... with a dash of Burberry thrown in for good measure.

Listening to: White Rabbits, Fort Nightly

I'm calling this the "Oscar Wilde," due to the old-fashioned foppy, floppy wide-brimmed top hat, ostrich feather, cameo ring, spectator shoes and somewhat nouveau print on the (Kate donated) tunic.

The outfit does, however, lose some of its "Wildeness" (if you will) when I am not carrying an old fashioned black umbrella as a jaunty cane, as I was when walking Elmwood Avenue today.

Listening to: The Black Keys

Heading to the flower market... I know I just wore this yellow jacket and posted about it, but it's really kind of perfect for this weather, which is cloudy and cool. It's a very lightweight wool, so it keeps me warm enough, but the bright sunny color is very apropos for spring.

Yellow blazer- Thrifted
Straight legged dark denim jeans- UNIQLO
Ruffled tuxedo top- Gap

Grey granny boots- Forever 21

Brooklyn

Listening to: LCD Soundsystem, Drunk Girls

Bumming around Williamsburg; brown bag, navy slouchy sweater, navy blazer, navy skirt with obnoxious flower pattern, all thrifted. What you can't see is the pair of heels I was wearing that basically ruined my feet/ankles forever.

Heading into Manhattan- this is me checking my phone for directions while still in the hostel.
Brown leather bag and gray/pink skirt, thrifted. Pink scarf from Kate P, belt forever 21.

Some dudes on the street putting up a wheatpaste mural in Manhattan invited us to a party at the ACE hotel, so we popped in to H & M and i found this numbah for $12.  Belt, thrifted. Shoes, Bakers. Yellow luggage, thrifted. Unfortunately we had to run to the bus straight form the party so we were forced to carry our bags around!

Saturday, May 15, 2010

Listening to: Wisp, NRTHNDR

bags are packed (as you can see) and travelin' clothes are on- it's off to Brooklyn tonight!
Bought these men's Lee jeans yesterday from the thrift store and proceeded happily to distress them.

I'm using a long ropey gold chain necklace as a bracelet. The blazer is thrifted and modified- I swapped the original buttons for genuine brass military buttons. The silk scarf is also a fun thrifted find!

Listening to: Queen

Chi-Chi's b-day party! Thrifted blazer, thrifted and altered skirt, target tee shirt (navy.)

Listening to: Born Slippy by Underworld (from the Trainspotting soundtrack)

Spent the bulk of this morning in an Alcohol and other Drugs seminar for teacher certification. Scintillating, really. Apparently the month of May has decided it's actually more closely related to March today. And in other news, I'll be spending the later part of the afternoon shopping with my mom, not at the Clarence flea as I had hoped but at J.C. Penney instead.

Cobalt blue velvet blazer, black and white striped boatneck tee, black beret and high waisted pleated shorts, all thrifted. Need better lighting.

Monday, May 3, 2010

Listening to: The National's new album, High Violet

So this was how I started my day- thrifted linen blazer, f21 tank, uniqlo jean shorts and the best boots ever.

Ultra bling ring (total score @ the Broadway Market)

I removed the original buttons from this blazer and sewed on mismatched ones from a lot of brass military buttons i bought from Ebay.

This feather headband was made by me.

Now I'm biking over to Amy's so I figured I should throw on jeans. f21 skinnies.

Sunday May 2 2010

A magnificent brunch today at Trattoria Aroma with the Mama , Abby and Kate P. Ended our meal by seeing a whole bunch of beautiful people, including the Block Club boys, and the Shock & Awe girls, among others.

This here is a little headpiece I made inadvertently when making a removable decoration for this wee straw hat below:

Straw hat, thrifted.

Stripey dress/romper with attached scarf, Jean Paul Gaultier (for Target!) And brand new sandals. They remind me of the ones those adorable little Irish dancing lasses wear.

Check it, I braided my hair. So proud of myself for not being a slouch in the hair dept. today!

Listening To: Biffy Clyro

This is what I wore to RUNWAY3.0, which was masterminded by the incomparable Miss Habes. The event is the culmination of her senior fashion student's efforts at Buffalo State College. I asked Erin if I could take some photos for her, and she hooked a girl UP with VIP status! Love you Erin!

Pretty terrible image, sorry. Brandon taught me about jackets last night. Now I know this one is double breasted and I am no longer failing fashion school. Also, I should sew the button back on.

Yet another terrible image, but anyway, I made this brooch.

I sense a "terrible photo" Theme on this post. Sorry. Here's the dress, sans jacket. Just a super simple jersey tee dress with adjustable rouching on the sides.

My new favorite kicks! Cut-out spectator style flats.

Both bracelets are from Plum Pudding on Elmwood Ave here in Buffalo.

Love this...

Friday, April 16

Listening to: The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, A Teenager In Love

Second Chic officially opened for business today... I wanted to put together something springy... it ended up being about 12ยบ outside. Thankfully I had this red trench (Esprit) and red cardi from the Kate P pile... as well as a thrfited belt to cinch it up. The navy & white sailor striped knit skirt is from Forever 21, and the opaque navy tights I stole from my mom.

Sunday April 11

Music: Band of Bees, end of the street from the album Octopus

How to wear white jeans?

tee shirt, scarf and blazer, that about covers it.

Planning to make these a summer staple...

Fringe sandals from Spain.

Bling snake ring.

Tuesday April 6, 2010

Listening to: JAPANDROIDS

Off to class...

brown velvet blazer from Amvets, tee shirt J Crew, skirt was a hand-me-down from Kate P. Thrifted raspberry beret, thigh high cable knit socks in oatmeal. Brown leather boots from Liz Claiborne, belt from Gap.

Definitely loved this outfit, until I got out of class and was confronted by 1,000 mile an hour winds and pelting rain.

Monday, March 22, 2010

In an effort to combat the gloom of this blustery, rainy, cold, March day, I made an attempt to express in outfit form something most like an ice cream cone, or perhaps a cupcake or a sorbet.
My lilac skinny denim (from F21) are possibly my favorite pair of jeans to date. The seafoam green tee is also from F21.

The peachy scarf is from that pile of clothes Kate P. donated to me (a worthy cause I like to think.)

And last but not least, my oversized (but shortish-sleeved) grey wool blazer and cupcake toppish-looking hat. Fortunately I did not actually wear my deck shoes outside, because it rained non-stop today. I wore my aubergine (eggplant) Hunter Wellingtons and thank goodness, because I needed them!
